Babies and Children Photography
When you bring your child in for a photo session, no matter how old they are, Marty Lerman does his best to make everyone feel comfortable. It’s our goal to provide the very best photos in a relaxed and fun environment and family setting. Marty has the expertise with capturing the best family moments of children of all ages. From showing off your baby to getting your senior photos, we can help! Our approach is creative and fun with a photo journalistic style. You will not be disappointed.
As a father of two daughters with more than 20 years of experience, photographing children has become one of my most favorite things to shoot. It is one of my most creative outlets. While in session, you are guaranteed laughter along the way. His creative approach to making your child feel comfortable and capture the best moment is one of his areas of expertise.
At MSL Photography, we strive to make each photoshoot fun and unique at the location of your choice. During the shoot, children are encouraged to play and be themselves, allowing me to capture them at their best! Before your child’s photoshoot (unless they are teens of course) it’s important to prepare a little beforehand to make sure that this time is a success for all of us. A few things to keep in mind are:
- Choosing the day and time to have your portraits made is an important part of creating the best experience possible. Of course, there is the obvious scheduling of work and school, but many other factors play into this decision that you may not have considered. Are we shooting outdoors or indoors? What time of year is it? How old are your kids? When is naptime? (Never ever schedule a photo sessions at nap time!)
- The optimal time for a professional outdoor portrait session is in the morning or evening. Midday should be avoided because the sun is high and harsh over head, creating unflattering light and shadows.
- Make sure your child is well-rested and fed before your shoot.
- If they’re nervous with the family watching them, we may ask you to step away for a moment to capture them in a more relaxed setting.
- Don’t put too much pressure on your child to smile and be expressive; we provide the environment to make them feel comfortable and happy. There’s no need to reinforce that they need to perform for the camera.
- If you want to coordinate outfits, don’t hesitate to ask me beforehand for any suggestions to make things easier come photo day. I can also coordinate backgrounds to find the right color palette.
- Feel free to bring along accessories like your child’s favorite toys, hats, scarves, and anything else you might think would add depth to the photos.
